APPLICATION
ABOUT THE PROGRAM.
Paws in Prison supports the rehabilitation, care, and training of rescued shelter dogs by women inmates in the Coleman Unit. Many of the inmates are paroled with the opportunity to begin a new career in the animal welfare industry.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERA.

Be currently employed.

Must have participated at least 6 months in the Paws in Prison program at the Coleman Unit.

Must have long-term career plans in the animal industry field.

Applicants must submit a new, fully completed application for each scholarship. (This includes personal letter, reference letters, and application.)

Must satisfactorily complete course(s) for which assistance was provided or recipient will be required to repay cost of financial assistance.

Must complete two phone interviews – one with Executive Director and one with a Board Member
SELECTION CRITERIA.
The board of directors shall meet and discuss each scholarship applicant. In the event that more applicants apply than available number of scholarships, the following criteria will be used to select recipients:

Successful completion of scholarship application.

References as listed in application.

Completion of prior certifications in the field.

Number of times applicant has applied for scholarship(s).

Total number of FoPiP scholarships received.

Availability of FoPiP financial resources at the time the application is received.
